36th Annual Conference of the International Society for Environmental Epidemiology in Santiago, Chile: Dr. Lori Hoepner, Assistant Professor of EOHS, presented a pecha kucha "Environmental Quality of Life (EQoL) Survey to Assess Climate Risk Perceptions in Urban Underserved Communities", co-authored with EOHS chair and Associate Professor Dr. Laura Geer; EOHS DrPH candidate Christopher Jimenez presented two posters on his dissertation research "Waterfowl abundance during the 2022-2023 Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Outbreak in Iowa" and "Inland Water Body Surface Area is Associated with Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Outbreaks in Iowa". Drs. Hoepner and Geer co-authored a poster with members of the Downstate community "Building Community Resilience from Heat with Youth Citizen Science (BRHYCS)".

Dr. Elizabeth Helzner and DrPH alumna Dr. Ayanna Besson presented their study, "Pilot Evaluation of a Virtual 21-Day Whole-Food Plant-Based Dietary Intervention in New York City Residents" at the 2024 annual American College of Lifestyle Medicine meeting. Dr. Helzner gave a podium presentation focused on changes in health-related quality of life and biometrics, and Dr. Besson presented a poster on the program's feasibility, acceptability, and program-related changes in knowledge and dietary behavior. Biostatistics faculty member Dr. Rose Calixte was a coinvestigator on both presentations.

Epidemiology DrPH alumna Janille Williams received the Epidemiology Section Student Abstract Award at the annual conference of the American Public Health Association for her dissertation research, “Disparities in Knowledge and Awareness of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and HPV-Related Cancers Among Sexual Minorities in the United States, 2017-2020.” Coinvestigators on the project included Drs. Elizabeth Helzner, Rose Saint Fleur-Calixte, and Denise Bruno.

Biostatistics faculty member Dr. Rose Saint Fleur-Calixte recently published her work, "Education differences in blood pressure trajectories by sex through midlife: Findings from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 1999–2018" in the journal Blood Pressure Monitoring.
